DANCE COMPETITION, CHALLENGES AND BATTLES
See some of the greatest dancers in the world and events here in Stockholm. This year Streetstar will presents collaborations with events such as:

These events are some of the most respected concepts and events in the world for dancers in their specific styles. We also present our own international concepts. DANCEHALL BATTLES and BREAKING BATTLES.
We welcome back the Showcase competition SHOWCASE OF THE YEAR!
Also an ALL STYLE ROOKIE BATTLE for youngsters up to 18 years old and an INSTAGRAM CHALLENGE with nice prizes every day during the Streetstar Festival!

A dance competition by, with and for young awesome dancers!
Three different age categories: 6-10 years, 11-14 years and 15-18 years.
You can register for this competition at the venue, on the same day if you get the feeling that you want to participate. When you register, you specify which style of music you like to dance to, and the DJ will play the style of music you have chosen. If you are lucky, your favorite song may be played, but the DJ decides the music.
Before you start battling (competing against each other), you have to dance in front of the judges. Then the judges choose who goes further to battle. When you battle, one dancer dances at a time. Each solo is a maximum of 1 minute. You can dance 1-2 solos per battle. It will be like a tournament, where there will first be quarter finals. Those who win the quarterfinals go on to the semifinals and those who win there go to a decisive final!
Registration takes place at the venue between 14.00-17.00!
Our jury consists of young dance stars and the music will be mixed by tomorrow’s top DJ!

We are proud to bring back Showcase Of The Year – This year it will be live on stage at Kulturhuset in Stockholm !
Now its time for all international and Swedish dancers to bring out your best showcase for the stage.
We have three different categories in the competition:
Solo (1 dancer)
Duo (2 dancers)
Dance crews (3 to 20 dancers)
We want to challenge all the best and the most creative choreographers and dancers to bring the artform of dance performance on the stage.
You are free to use props to create you masterpiece and with as many dancers as 20 for your performance see info different categories.

Streetstar is proud to present Breaking at its best at the Streetstar Festival 2022!
Our aim on this years program is to make a Breaking event based on a female over-representation on the highest international level on the judge panel and by an amazing B-Girl Showcase battle.
The battle format is teams of three (3) B-girls and/or B-boys.
The judge panel will consist of three (3) judges. All judges will meet the eligibility, training, judge skills level, and requirements set forth by the organiser Streetstar.

Pay The Cost To Be The Boss ♥ Streetstar
One of the world’s foremost dance events within FUNK – the dance styles Locking, Popping and Waacking. This event is usually held in Paris, France to bring together the Funk community. The founder is the legendary dancer Patrick “P-Lock” Pires. One of the world’s most prominent dancers in Locking.
We have the honor to present a collaboration with this fantastic event in Stockholm during the Streetstar Festival 2022.
Pay The Cost To Be The Boss and Streetstar will jointly host this funk battle 2vs2, one (1) Locking dancer and one (1) Popping dancer compete in a duo. We want to challenge to a cross-border collaboration between these two FUNK dance styles.

HAWKS METHOD ♥ Streetstar
We are proud to present a collaboration with Hawks Method in Stockholm during the Streetstar Festival 2022.
The Hawks Method Digital System is an application, as well as an online platform (currently under development), specifically designed for the evaluation, training and certification of urban dancers. Massangila “Yugson” Lumengo, world-class choreographer, teacher, and competitor of Hip-Hop and House Dance, has been developing the Hawks Method Digital System from 2015, by reflecting on his own experience, discussing with international pioneers of street dance, and doing extensive research. It has thus far been exploited in different contexts of dance education and competition.
The Hawks Method evaluation grid is a twenty-point journey divided in 4 categories: foundations, technique, musicality and creativity. Each of these categories corresponds to five prompts, the answer of which is evaluated from 1 to 5. These prompts are flexible and adapted to the discipline, context, public and level. In every case, the prompts consist of “constraints” whose objective is to push the dancers to go beyond their limits. The hypothetical “perfect dancer” gets a result of 100% (4x5x5). The capacity of dancers to respond to these prompts is evaluated in a freestyle format.
EXHIBITION SHOWCASE BATTLE
We have invited some of the most prominent dancers in Europe.
These dancers will both show how the Hawks Method is presented in the best way, but also to challenge themselves to get together as many points as possible. The dancers who get the most points from the invited, will judge when Hawks Method opens up to anyone who wants to register for the competition the next day.
Each dancer dance for 1 minute in front of a judge / challenge and then rotate directly to the next judge / challenge. So it goes on until the dancer has done all the challenges.
5 judges = 2 topics x 5 challenges on each topic: FOUNDATION & TECHNIQUE! 2×5 minutes for each dancer = 10 solos!!

Since 2004 the goal of the Atmosphère project has been to bring together people from House culture, clubbing and arts with guest dancers, djs, producers and more… A regular party where dancers, clubbers meet to raise ‘spirit with dance and music with concepts : X²-change, live performances, Can u dance …?
