FOR DANCERS: RULES & CRITERIAS – SHOWCASE OF THE YEAR

We have three different categories in the competition:

Solo (1 dancer)
Duo (2 dancers)
Dance crews (3 to 20 dancers)

You are free to use props to create you masterpiece and with as many dancers as 20 for your performance see info different categories.

We want to show a wide range of aesthetic and artistic forms of expression and give choreographers and dancers an opportunity to develop their creative artform of dance on stage.
The competition are open to all urban dance styles. Our judges will assess choreography, originality, musicality, composition, creativity, performance and stage presence.
All artists will get direct feedback from one of our judges after the performance on stage.
The judges’ decision can not be overruled.
All artists are free to use props that can be easily carried on and off stage. No fire, water or pyrotechnichs are allowed on stage
All artist will get 5 min rehearsal time on stage for a quick run through and staging with music.
The lights on stage will be basic colors and clean, simple light cues for entrance and end will be done as far as possible according to light designer.

TIME LIMIT: 2:30 minutes

STAGE: 10×10 meters

MUSIC: All music must be recorded on WAV format only!

Prize money:
Solo – 5.000 Sek
Duo – 8.000 Sek
Dance crews – 12.000 Sek

FOR DANCERS: CONCEPT / RULES – BREAKING BATTLES 3vs3

PRESELECTIONS
Preselections will be held in a battle form. Two random teams battle against each other.
One (1) solo for each dancer in the team.
During the preselection there will no winners in the battles.
Judges will pick the best sixteen (16) teams to go to the round of 16. The judges have also the right to choose only eight (8) teams to go straight to quarter finals.
Each judge have one vote during the battle rounds. If there is tie, the team have one more round (one solo) to decide the winner. The judges can not abstain themselves from voting – so there can’t be a tie.

BATTLES
Round of 16 – one (1) solo per dancer
Quarter, semi finals and final – two (2) solos each dancer

Combos are allowed in transitions and if the combo is over 30 seconds, it counts like one solo.

• The music is chosen by the DJ at the time of competition.
• If you do not show up after three roll-calls before a battle or competition, you are disqualified.
• Please show respect for your opponent. No physical contact allowed.
• The decisions of the judges are final.

Contestants who do not follow the rules may be disqualified by the judges or the event management.

FOR DANCERS: CONCEPT / RULES – DANCEHALL 2vs2

PRESELECTIONS
Preselection round is max 1,30 minute per couple in a showcase format.
Each couple gets 1 min 30 sec to dance to their own SONG of choice, NO mix and NO effects, Pitch is ok. You can choose to freestyle or/and routines, as you like. The couple bring their own music only for the preselections to really represent their own style and what they like.

Judges will pick the best sixteen (16) couples to go to the round of 16. The judges have also the right to choose only eight (8) couples to go straight to quarter finals.

BATTLES
Each battle consists of three (3) solos per couple. One solo (freestyle) per dancer and one combo. This is a criterion in EVERY battle, whether it is a quarter, semi or final. So prepare at least 3-4 combos. Each solo/combo is max 1 minute.

Each judge have one vote during the battle rounds. If there is tie, the couple have one more round (one solo) to decide the winner. The judges can not abstain themselves from voting – so there can’t be a tie.

FOR DANCERS: CONCEPT / RULES – FUNK BATTLES 2vs2 (Popping & Locking)

PRESELECTIONS
Preselections will be in a battle form. Two random couples battle against each other.
Three (3) rounds per couple, One solo each dancer and one combo. During the preselection there will no winners in the battles. Judges will just pick the best eight (8) couples to go to the quarter finals. If less than eight (8) couples are registered in a category, they directly get to the final rounds.

FOR DANCERS: CONCEPT / RULES – HIP HOP 1vs1

PRESELECTION
The preselections will be performed as above with the Hawks Method concept. 5 judges = 5×2 challenges = 5×2 minutes for each dancer. 5 challenges at the time.
The 16 dancers who have received the highest score advance to the round of 16 battles 1vs1.

BATTLES
Round of 16 – two (2) solos per dancer
Quarter finals – two (2) solos per dancer
The remaining four (4) dancers advance to a final in the concept 7 to smoke, where the judges enter the battles. The head judge will judge this battle.
Time limit 7 to smoke: 25 minutes.

The judge panel will consist of one (1) head judge who will meet the eligibility, training, judge skills level, and requirements set forth by the organizer Streetstar and Hawks Method.

FOR DANCERS: CONCEPT / RULES HOUSE 1vs1

X²CHANGE « CHALLENGE »
As a cypher a two-way exchange will enhance the connection in different forms. A Celebration, A way to push connexions, dance higher (s’talking, Cycle, 360)
The unifying element of Atmosphere
X² = 2 unknowns
X²change = (Exchange)

-The goal is to highlight the connection with a dancer while pushing his/her improvisation.

1st STEP
S’talking: Improvisation for 2 in the form of back and forth
The judge must choose the 4 dancers most skilled in connection and improvisation after 3 circles of exchanges.

1st circle / preselection for all registered dancers
2nd circle / 16 best dancers
3rd circle / 8 best dancers

After this three circles of S´talking, four (4) dancers are left to go for the FINAL round

FINAL ROUND
Musicality “Cycle”: Take turns improvising on the musical sequences.

The four (4) dancers must take turns and soak up the end of the previous dancer’s improvisation while developing their freestyle.
The judge will choose the best performance to win the first price.

The judge panel will consist of one (1) judge who will meet the eligibility, training, judge skills level, and requirements set forth by the organizer Streetstar and Atmosphere.
