Welcome to this program where the Streetstar Festival is introducing some interesting talks about the Streetstar History, the Swedish Hip Hop heritage and a panel talk with legends of the Waacking, Whacking and Punkin scene.

On Thursday we kick off the festival with Gatuslang and our first live pod with the team behind Streetstar, the trio that has made the festival possible for 18 years. Now that we’re nearing the end of an incredible journey with the final Streetstar year, we’re taking it back to where it all started and embarking on a trip down memory lane through history.

The evening’s second live pod is hosted by icons in Swedish hip-hop scene, both when it comes to dance and rap. ADL have been part of hip-hop since the 80s and have also been recurring hosts for Streetstar. Imenella also has a long history with Streetstar both as a dancer, judge and host. Together we will talk about memories and touch on the subject of Swedish hip-hop in general.

Hip-hop culture washed over Sweden with style-forming films and records in the 80s where disco, funk and soul rule the dance floors together with the dance bands. A new culture came to meet Swedish youth in depth, something that still affects us today. We travel back to the 80s where hip-hop was defined by the pioneers via dancing, rapping, DJing and painting.

Join this unique panel and get information about the evolution of the dance culture called Waacking, Whacking and Punking!
Lets get together with west coast OG Viktor Manoel and from the east coast we got legendary Archie Burnett and representing france we have finest Sonia Soulshine with us to share their stories and love for the dance culture of the 70’s.
