Here you will find information about the special events we present during the festival.
The STREETSTAR FESTIVAL 2016 is not only about battles and competitions. We want to present a great variation of experiences for the audience.
RECYCLE STREET MARKET
Welcome to our Recycle Street Market at the main venue, Berwaldhallen.
Bring your old/new SNEAKERS, VINYLS, HEADPHONES or whatever you would like to sell, give away or exchange with others at the festival. Maybe you will find the sneakers or the original James Brown record you been looking for.
A perfect opportunity for you that wants to experience a new meeting point during the festival. A market place where you can meet different dance schools and organizations.
Get yourself a 15 minute sport MASSAGE while waiting for the next battle or why not get a tattoo at the venue (if you are over 18 years). You can also find a wide variation of stores/stands with CLOTHING, MUSIC, MERCHANDICE and much more.

TORA MKANDAWIRE MÅRTENS, 90 MINUTES
Dansmuseet and StreetStar in collaboration with Folkets Bio have the pleasure to invite you to the screening of the film Martha & Niki during StreetStar Festival 2016. Dansmuseet is the venue for all the dance workshops, HipHop, House, Dancehall, Waacking, Breaking and Vogue, during the festival.
”In 2010 Martha Nabwire and Niki Tsappos took part in the biggest international Street Dance Competition, Juste Debout in Paris. It was the first time ever two women became World Champions in Hip Hop. This film depicts their love of dance, each other and about friendship put to the test. About desires, yearning and finding the right path in life.”

OPEN CONFERENCE
STREETSTAR in a collaboration with NORDIC UNITY presents this years Open Conference. Introducing the Nordic Unity to the people!
Nordic Unity is a network of key people in the Nordic urban dance scene that was constituted in the spring of 2015. The network strides to bring the Nordic urban dance communities closer together, and through that strengthen the Nordic urban dance scene. By creating strong a network in and between the Nordic urban dance communities, Nordic Unity strides to raise the bar in the quality of urban dance and improve the professional and cultural conditions for all.
At the open conferences, Nordic Unity invites the local community to dialogue on the current conditions the particular dance scene and most importantly about how the dancers themselves imagine the best possible future.
Nordic Unity seeks to integrate the actual wishes of the active dancers in the plans, productions and events we orchestra, making sure that we proceed with initiatives that correspond with the will of our communities.

CHARTERED BUSES
Streetstar with support from the KULTURKONTAKT NORD – NORBRUK is organizing trips and accommodation from Gothenburg, Oslo, Copenhagen/Malmö and Helsinki to Stockholm to get the Nordic dancers to exchange.
The package includes:
– Bus trip (boat from Helsinki)
– 2 nights at a hostel
Price: 400kr / 45 €
Hostel
The rooms are divided between two hostels and they are both located in the center of Stockholm and close to the venues.
