LOCKING
The first of all Streetdance-styles which was developed in California by Don Cambellock and got popular through the classic TV-show “The Soultrain”. The dance is based on moves from everyday life situations that are locked in a comic manner, ”stop n´go”, ”locks”, ”wrist twirls” and ”points”.

POPPING
“Popping” is a subgenre but has been used as an umbrella term for the dances that focus on extreme body control in isolation of bodyparts, i e when you do “waves” or “animation”. The style has been developed in the American westcoast in the 60’s and is done to different types of funk music. The name “Electric Boogie” is from the New York- interpretation of the dance in the 80´s.

HIP HOP / FREESTYLE
This style is constantly changing and very much dependent on the development of Hip Hop music. It’s not as dependent on special moves as Popping or B-boying, instead it’s the feeling and vibe that counts the most. Much of the inspiration is picked from african dances but also Poppin, Rocking and other outsider dance styles.

HOUSE DANCE
House Dance has been debatingly broken down in 3 styles: Footwork, Jacking, and Lofting. It incorporates movements from many other sources such as Capoeira, tap, and Latin dances such as salsa. In house dancing there is an emphasis on the subtle rhythms and riffs of the music, and the footwork follows them closely.
